Rosa Park' is a concrete skatepark situated in Palestine in the northern West Bank village of Asira Al-Shamaliya.  In 2015, I worked with the charity SkatePal, alongside twenty international volunteers, to build the 700m2 concrete park. All materials for the park were sourced locally in the village.  The projcet is a collaboration between SkatePal, The Palestinian House of Friendship and the Asira Al-Shamaliya Council. 

 

Local and international volunteers continue to host regular classes at the Rosa Park, providing loaner skateboarding and safety equipment to be used during the sessions. The park welcomes local youth with a daily average attendance of 40 actively participating young people (significantly higher over the weekend), alongside accompanying families hosting picnics, trying skateboarding themselves and interacting with the communal space.
